Art explores biblical parallels with migration

“A beautiful, calming display of thought-provoking stories that tell a different side to asylum.” – that was the response of one visitor toย ‘Back Where You Came From’, an exhibition of prints and ceramics made by six people who are seeking sanctuary in Sheffield. The project was led by Ancient Historian/Biblical Scholar Dr Casey Strine and Sheffield-based artist/art therapist Emilie Taylor and it enabled sanctuary seekers in the city to reflect on their movement, transience, and migration from their homes by responding to stories about the figures of Abraham, Hagar, Isaac, and Jacob as presented in the biblical book of Genesis. The exhibition is on now, free to all, and remains open untilย 27 Juneย at 35 Chapel Walk, Sheffield, S1 2PD. More info is availableย here
