The old Woolworths building on The Moor, renamed “Theatre Delicatessen” proved the ideal setting for a full and varied programme of events for this year’s Refugee Week celebrations. The café cum arts venue proved its versatility at hosting anything from a debate on the situation in Eritrea to a fashion show, experimental drama and an all-singing, all-dancing Iftah party. Throughout the week visitors to the café were invited to peg questions on a washing line, which were addressed at a migration-focused debate at the weekend. Special thanks to Theatre Deli manager Sarah Sharp for making the space available, and Sam Holland, who pulled the programme of events together and kept everything running smoothly. Let’s hope the venue stays open so we can make it even bigger and better next year!
