Half marathon boost to Welcome Centre appeal

David's half-marathon

City of Sanctuary Sheffield’s Welcome Centre appeal received a boost at the weekend when supporter David Mount clocked up more than ยฃ1800 in donations for completing the Yorkshire half marathon. Despite the unusually warm weather David (aged 63) shaved 35 seconds off his previous personal best over the 13-mile route up to Ringinglow and back to the Town Hall. ย  He’s been running the race since 2010, but took a rest last year after breaking his leg while training. ย The fund-raising effort brings the total raised so far to about ยฃ35k of the ยฃ55k needed to bid for the lease of the city centre premises that would serve as an advice centre and social space for asylum seekers & refugees.
