Songwriter Nadia Durrani-Jones has collaborated with a number Sheffield-based musical talents to produce a song raising money for refugees and asylum seekers in the UK, with donations kindly going to support City of Sanctuary Sheffield locally, as well as Refugee Action nationwide.
Sailing on Tears blends compassionate lyrics with stirring orchestral music to emotionally engage the listener. It’s a beautiful song which uses a range of vocal and musical styles from a diverse range of singers and musicians. The track is produced by Aidan Thompson (Alvarez Kings) of Steelworks Studios, Sheffield. The song was recorded adhering to strict COVID-19 guidelines, with the artists coming in separately to sing their parts.
In addition to her passion for music, Durrani-Jones is a secondary school teacher and has created a virtual assembly, complete with original soundtrack, to inform students about refugees and asylum seekers and how they can help raise funds to support those in the UK.

A huge thank you to Nadia and all of her collaborators for writing this wonderful song, and for your help to keep those seeking sanctuary in Sheffield included, supported and connected.
