We know that our local council shares our vision of living in a compassionate community where everyone has the opportunity to thrive, whoever they are. We are proud that Sheffield is a community of welcome, in which people treat each other with care and with dignity. We are proud to be working alongside our council to strive towards being a City of Sanctuary.

This is despite the fact that for too long, the UK Government has pursued policies that hinder people seeking sanctuary from rebuilding their lives in safety and dignity. Ultimately, these policies are harmful to both people seeking sanctuary and to Sheffield.

That is why we are calling on Sheffield City Council to write publicly to the Home Secretary Priti Patel rejecting the New Plan for Immigration and demanding a kinder, fairer and more effective approach to supporting people seeking sanctuary.
