Volunteer who found sanctuary in helping others

We are deeply saddened to report the death of Roisín Hegarty, who volunteered with us during the summer. Roisín took great pleasure in welcoming newly arrived asylum seekers, and helping them find appropriate shirts and dresses at our clothes bank. She was a lovely, sensitive and caring young person, who had been struggling to find her way in life. It was her aunt, Jillian Creasy, who suggested she contact City of Sanctuary, and who says Roisín seemed to find her own ‘sanctuary’ in working with refugees. You can read Roisín’s own report on her volunteering experience hereRoisin.
