Sheffield techies do their bit for refugees

hackathon 2

Huge thanks to all the techies who gave up their weekend to get to grips with a list of challenges set by Sheffield refugee organisations.   The ‘Refugee Hackathon’ was initiated by Nicola and Andy Mayer of and produced a fantastic response from the local technical community.  Assisted by a group of advisers from asylum and refugee groups, the team set about creating a mobile friendly map to help new arrivals find their way around the city, and an interactive website showing the services and support available during an asylum seeker’s ‘journey’ in Sheffield.  You can read Andy’s reflections on the event here.
